I don’t read blogs. I don’t. Sorry… I mean, I try to keep up, but I’ve never managed to figure out setting up feeds and I never make time to sit down and read them at home. I think that’s one of the main reasons I don’t blog here as often as would justify this site. But… here we are…
I could blame “mobile computing.” It’s certainly easier to type sitting at a desk with a desktop computer than anywhere with a laptop. I’m writing this on a desktop (an old piece of crap PC in a hidden away room at work). Blogging from my iPhone with the WordPress app? Pfft! Forget that! The iPhone has the worst keyboard of any smart phone hands down. I tried someone’s iPad too… sucks almost as bad.
I could blame Facebook… after all, I have a captive audience there. I mean… sort of… I have a feeling I’m on a lot of people’s block list and don’t show up in their feeds. Not that I can blame them. There are many times when I post something to Facebook that should be on my blog or in my Twitter feed, but I don’t blog and I have fallen out of the Twitter frenzy.
I could blame my busy life, but then that’s not really true because I still manage to catch all the episodes of my favorite Thursday night shows. I also manage some decent Bejeweled Blitz sessions and keep up with approximately ten iPhone Scrabble games at any given time.
I don’t know. I like to blog. It’s fun, even though I know maybe twenty people will see it at most and none of you bastards will comment (except Jim and about fifty ad bots). So… as rarely updated as it is, here we are…

Julian Assange is only 39? Holy crap! I’d have pegged him for mid-50s at least!
Wikileaks’ frontman has turned himself in to Scotland Yard, Visa, MasterCard, and PayPal have canceled their relationships with Wikileaks effectively shutting off their money supply, Amazon has shut off their servers to Wikileaks, and the Swiss bank Postfinance has closed the site’s account.
Apparently, the rape charges, which were brought up, then dismissed and reopened, in Sweden are based on something called “sex by surprise.” From what I’ve read in most accounts, in the case of one woman, Assange’s condom broke and he did not immediately stop when this happened. Stupid? Yes. Rape? Maybe technically, but I’d venture a guess the only two people around at the time were Assange and the woman. We don’t know whether she pleaded for him to stop or maybe suggested it… maybe while continuing to nibble his ear. I’m still trying to figure out the details of other woman’s accusations, but it appears that case is also related to condomless but consensual sex.
Both women continued to hang out publicly with their “rapist” after their encounters. One even organized a party for him and posted to Twitter how cool it was to be around him. The other helped him get out of the city without police detection by buying him a train ticket. Oh, and there’s the whole thing about one of the women designing a website to explain how to get revenge on a man by using the legal system to discredit him.
Is Assange a rapist? I doubt it. Even if he pulled some douchebag tactics to convince these women to let him ride bareback, the evidence for criminal charges seems weak. In any case, I’d hardly say it’s deserving of Interpol’s involvement (“Wanted in 188 countries?” Really?) and it’s very coincidental that it happened right as Wikileaks was making headlines for releasing some very embarrassing political material. If you really want to discredit someone, accusing them of rape seems like a great way to do it.
